Around Long Beach
Long Beach is a car town: the Grand Prix of Long Beach takes over the downtown streets every April, and the coast from Belmont Shore to the Port is a daily drive for a lot of people. Salt air near the water and long sunny days are hard on paint and on cabins, so PPF on the front of the car and ceramic tint on the glass are the two jobs most worth the drive.
Coastal air and PPF in Long Beach
Within a few miles of the water, the air carries salt. It settles on cars as a fine film, mostly overnight under the marine layer, and dries in the morning sun. On bare paint that film is mildly corrosive, and wherever a rock chip reaches the metal, it speeds up rust. That is why chips matter more near the coast than inland. Paint protection film helps twice: it stops the chip, and it keeps salt off the panel beneath it. Edges are the weak spot, so wrapped edges and frequent rinsing matter. A coating on top of the film makes that rinse quick. After washing, dry the car rather than letting salty water evaporate.
Services for Long Beach drivers
- Paint protection filmThe 710 carries container trucks to and from the port all day, shedding gravel at bumper height. Full-front PPF takes those hits before they reach the paint.Price by photo
- Chrome deleteSalt air pits chrome trim and turns it hazy near the water. Black wrap film seals the trim from salt and looks cleaner.Price by photo
- Ceramic coatingMarine layer mornings leave a salty film that dries into spots by afternoon. A ceramic coating lets that residue rinse away instead of etching the clear coat.Price by photo
- Window tintGlare off the water is hard on the eyes along Ocean Boulevard and PCH. Ceramic tint cuts glare and heat while the front windows stay as light as California requires.Price by photo

Long Beach questions
How often should I wash a car near the Long Beach shore?
Every week or two, and sooner after a foggy stretch. Rinse with plenty of fresh water before a mitt touches the paint, then dry with a soft towel. A coating makes each wash quicker.
I park on the street near the water. Is a car cover better than PPF?
A cover keeps salt off but can trap moisture and scuff paint when wind moves it. Film stays on, takes chips while you drive and needs no daily effort. Near the beach, film plus a coating is easier.
Can you chrome delete just the window trim?
Yes. Window surrounds alone are a popular start, and the grille, badges or handles can follow later. Near the coast, covering the trim also keeps salt off chrome that would otherwise pit.
