Ceramic coating in Santa Fe Springs

A ceramic coating is a hard, clear layer that bonds to paint, wheels, glass or film. Water and dirt slide off, washing is faster and the finish stays glossy longer. It does not stop rock chips; that is what PPF is for.

Prep is most of the job

A coating locks in whatever is under it, swirl marks included. That is why correction (polishing) comes first, and why the price depends on the paint's condition. We look at the car before quoting the level of correction.

Coating over PPF and wraps

Film-specific coatings make PPF and satin or matte wraps easier to keep clean without adding shine where you don't want it.

Ceramic coating vs PPF: which one fits your car

Start with what you want to stop. Rock chips from freeway driving need PPF. A coating is a very thin layer and will not stop a chip or heal a scratch. Dull paint, water spots and slow washes are what a coating fixes. A garage-kept weekend car with good paint often needs only correction and coating. An older daily driver with tired paint gets the most visible change from the same combo, since polishing removes the swirls before the coating locks the gloss in. A satin or matte wrap needs a film-safe coating so the finish does not turn shiny. Tell us how you use the car and we will tell you which fits.

Ceramic coating cost: what changes the price

Beyond the paint's condition, three things move the price. The size of the car sets how much surface gets polished and coated. The surfaces you add matter: paint only, or wheels, glass and exterior trim as well, each with its own product. And the coating itself: products rated for a longer life cost more. Coating a car that just got new PPF or a fresh wrap usually skips the polishing step, so that job is mostly prep and application. Black and other dark paints show every swirl, so they often need more correction to look right under a coating.

How a ceramic coating is applied

First the car is washed, then decontaminated with an iron remover and clay to pull out bonded grit. Next comes paint correction at the level agreed with you. Then every panel is wiped with a panel prep solution to remove polishing oils, because the coating has to bond to bare clear coat. The coating goes on one section at a time, and each section is leveled before it flashes so there are no high spots. Wheels and glass get their own products if you add them. Most jobs take 1–2 days; we confirm timing when we book you.

Caring for a coated car

A coating can take up to two weeks to reach full hardness, so be gentle with it at first. Tap water around Southeast LA is hard, so dry the car with a microfiber towel or a blower instead of letting it air dry, or minerals can leave spots even on a coating. Don't wash it in direct sun. Get bird droppings off quickly. You do not need wax on top. Skip automatic brush washes, which put back the swirl marks the correction took out. A coating makes washing faster; it does not make washing optional.
