BMW wraps, PPF and chrome delete
BMW owners usually come in for a satin color change, PPF on the front, or a blackout of the grille and window trim. We do all three on BMW sedans, coupes, SUVs and M cars in 3M, XPEL and Inozetek films. Send the model and a few photos and we price exactly what you want.
Studio illustrationChrome delete: what is left to black out
Many BMWs leave the factory with bright window trim and a bright frame around the kidney grilles. M models and cars with the Shadowline trim option often have black window trim already, so on those the job is smaller: usually the grille frame, the badges and any bright accents left in the bumpers. Film goes on in gloss or satin black, or in a color that matches a wrap. Model letters on the trunk can be blacked out, or removed where they are glued on. The bright trim stays under the film if you ever want it back.
Satin black and color-shift
Satin black suits a modern BMW: it keeps every crease visible without the mirror shine of gloss. Grey, deep blue and gloss black are popular too. Color-shift film, like the 3M Satin Flip on the X5 M in the picture, moves through different hues as you walk around the car. The shift follows the direction the film comes off the roll, so every panel is laid in the same orientation, which takes more film and more time. That is why color-shift costs more than a standard color.
Where BMWs need protection
An M Sport or M front bumper has big intakes with sharp edges, and those edges chip first. Full front PPF covers the bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors and headlights. On the X3, X5 and X7, add clear film to the rear bumper's top surface, where luggage gets dragged over it. Front radar and parking sensors are trimmed around or left clear, so the driver aids keep working. Several M models have a bare carbon fiber roof; clear or matte PPF protects it and the weave still shows through.
Matte paint, wheels and calipers
BMW sells some models in Frozen matte paint. Matte paint cannot be polished or waxed like gloss, so a scratch is hard to fix. Matte (stealth) PPF keeps the factory look and takes the damage instead. To finish a build, BMW owners often paint the calipers or powder coat the wheels in the same visit. Black, bronze and colors picked from the M stripes are common choices. Doing it all at once means one drop-off instead of three, and the whole car changes together.
What sets the price, and the visit
Size matters most: a 2 Series coupe uses far less film than an X7. After that it is the film, the number of vents and intakes on the bumpers, door jambs, and how much trim gets blacked out. Most full wraps and full front PPF jobs take 1 to 2 days. The car is washed and decontaminated, the film goes on indoors, and the edges are post-heated. Afterward, hand wash with a pH-neutral soap and keep brush washes away from satin film, which can leave shiny patches on it.
Questions
How much does it cost to wrap a BMW in Los Angeles?
It depends on the model, the film and the coverage. A 3 Series or 4 Series in a standard satin color is a simpler job than an X5 M with big intakes, and color-shift film adds time. Door jambs add more. Send photos and your model year and we price it exactly.
Can you chrome delete a BMW kidney grille?
Yes. The bright frame around the kidney grilles is wrapped in gloss or satin black, along with the window trim if yours is bright. Every piece is cleaned and prepped first so the edges hold in summer heat. The film comes off later if you want the original trim back.
Is PPF worth it on a new BMW M car?
If it sees the freeway, yes. On an M car, the deep bumper intakes, the hood edge and the mirrors pick up chips fast. Full front clear PPF stops most of that. If you do track days, ask about adding the rockers and the area behind the front wheels.
Can you black out my BMW's license plate?
No. License plate covers and wraps have been illegal in California since January 1, 2026, so we do not install them. We can black out the grille, trim, badges and mirror caps instead, which gives the dark look and keeps the plate readable.
