Tesla Model Y wrap and PPF cost
There is no single price for a Model Y, because the cost follows four things: how much of the car is covered, which film you choose, whether the door jambs are done and the condition of the paint. A chrome delete or partial front PPF is the small end; a full color change or full-body PPF is the big end. Send photos and the year, and we give you an exact number for your car.
Studio illustrationCoverage is the biggest lever
For PPF, partial front covers the bumper and the first part of the hood and fenders. Full front takes the whole hood, the fenders, mirrors and headlights, so no film line crosses the hood. A track pack adds high-impact areas such as the rocker panels. Full body covers every painted panel. For a wrap, a full color change is the big job, while mirrors, a hood or a chrome delete on their own are far smaller. Each step up adds film and labor, and those two things are most of what you pay for.
Why a Model Y takes more film than a Model 3
The Model Y shares a lot with the Model 3, but it is a taller crossover with a big rear liftgate and more painted surface on every side. More surface means more film and more hours, so the same job costs more on a Y than on a 3. The all-glass roof works in your favor: there is no painted roof panel to cover. The refreshed Model Y that arrived in 2025 has a new nose and tail with light bars across the front and back, so panel shapes differ by year. Tell us the year when you ask for a price.
Film choice changes the price
Standard gloss, satin and matte wrap films are the lower-cost color options. Color-shift and specialty finishes cost more per roll and take longer to lay, because the shift has to run the same way on every panel. Inozetek color PPF costs more again: it is thicker, self-healing and stops rock chips, so you get the color and the protection in one film. For clear PPF, gloss is the usual choice and matte (stealth) film costs a little more. You see the samples in hand, side by side, before you pick.
Extras that move the number
Door jambs are the big one on a color change. With them done, the old color does not show when the doors open, but they add hours. Rock chips and old film add prep time, because film only goes on clean, smooth paint. Many Model Y owners add clear film on the top of the rear bumper, which takes scuffs every time groceries or a stroller go in, and on the door edges. Ceramic tint and a ceramic coating over the film are common add-ons. Each one is priced separately, so you can keep it or drop it.
Drop-off, pickup and care
Most full wraps and full front PPF jobs take 1 to 2 days; full-body PPF can take longer. The car is washed, decontaminated and wiped down, then the film goes on indoors. At pickup you look the car over with us under shop lights. For care, wait a few days before the first wash, then hand wash with a pH-neutral soap, dry with a clean microfiber towel and keep pressure washer tips away from the edges. A coating on the film makes that weekly wash quicker.
Questions
How much does it cost to wrap a Model Y?
It depends on the film, the door jambs and the paint. A standard satin or gloss color change without jambs is the starting point. Color-shift film, jambs or color PPF raise it. Send photos of all four sides and the year, and we price each option so you can compare them.
How much is PPF for a Tesla Model Y?
Price follows coverage. Partial front is the smallest job, full front is the most common, and full body is the largest. Matte film costs a bit more than gloss. Ask us to price all three from your photos and you can see exactly what each step adds.
Is it cheaper to wrap a Model Y than to paint it?
Against a quality respray, usually yes, and it is faster. A good paint job means sanding, spraying and curing, and the original paint is gone for good. A wrap goes over the factory paint and comes off later, which helps at resale or lease return.
Why do Model Y quotes vary so much between shops?
Quotes often cover different things. Compare the film brand and line, whether door jambs and mirrors are included, how the edges are finished and whether old film removal or paint prep is extra. Our quotes name the film and the coverage, so you can compare like for like.
