How much does ceramic coating cost in Los Angeles?

In 2026, a professional ceramic coating in Los Angeles usually costs about $800 to $1,500 for a sedan or mid-size SUV with light paint correction, $500 to $800 for an entry-level coating, and $1,500 to $3,000 or more for premium multi-year coatings or large and exotic cars. Why prep is most of the price

A coating locks in whatever is under it, so the paint is washed, decontaminated and usually machine polished first to remove swirl marks and water spots. A new car needs little correction; a car with years of automatic car washes needs a lot. That time, not the bottle, is most of what you pay for.

Ceramic coating or PPF?

They do different jobs. A ceramic coating is a hard, slick layer that adds gloss, makes washing easier and helps resist sun, bird droppings and water spots. It does not stop rock chips. PPF is a physical film that takes chips and scratches. Many owners put PPF on the front of the car and a coating on everything else, or a coating on top of the film.

How long it lasts

Coatings are sold by expected life, from about a year for entry-level products to several years for premium ones. How the car is washed matters as much as the product: hand washing with a pH-neutral soap keeps a coating working, while brush car washes wear it down.

Questions

How soon can I wash a coated car?

Wait about 5 to 7 days before the first wash. The coating keeps hardening for one to two weeks.

Does a ceramic coating stop scratches?

It resists light marring and makes the paint easier to clean, but it does not stop rock chips or deeper scratches. That is what PPF is for.

Can you coat a wrapped car?

Yes. There are coatings made for vinyl and PPF that keep the film easier to clean.
