Tesla wraps, PPF and chrome delete in Southeast LA
Tesla owners usually ask for one of three things: a new color, protection for the front end, or the bright trim gone. We do all three on the Model 3, Model Y, Model S and Model X, plus California-legal ceramic tint, at our Santa Fe Springs shop. Send photos of your car and we price exactly the work you want.
Studio illustrationWhy so many Teslas get wrapped
Tesla offers a short list of factory colors, so at any light in Los Angeles you see the same white, black and grey cars. A wrap is the quickest way to make yours look like nobody else's. Satin black, satin grey and deep greens and blues are popular picks. The Model 3 has a smooth body with few hard creases, which suits film. On the 3 and the Y the roof is glass and stays glass, so the wrap covers the painted panels and the mirrors. When you sell or turn in a lease, the film comes off and the factory paint is still there.
Chrome delete: check your build year
Tesla moved the Model 3 and Model Y from chrome window trim to black trim around late 2020. If your car still has bright trim around the windows, it is a natural chrome-delete candidate. The trim is covered in gloss or satin black film to match the newer cars, and nothing is painted or removed for good. Older Model S and Model X cars with bright trim can be done the same way. Badges can be wrapped to match, or taken off where they are only held on with adhesive. It is a small job next to a full wrap, and it changes the whole side view.
PPF where Teslas chip
A Tesla has no tall grille, so the low nose, the bumper and the front edge of the hood meet freeway grit head on, and the trucks on the 5 and the 605 throw plenty of it. Full front PPF covers the bumper, the whole hood, the fenders, the mirrors and the headlights. Many owners add the rocker panels, which take what the front tires kick up. Film is trimmed around the side cameras in the front fenders and any bumper sensors, so every camera sees clearly. Clear gloss keeps the factory look. Matte PPF turns the paint satin and protects it at the same time.
What changes the price on a Tesla
Size comes first. A Model 3 is one of the smaller cars to wrap, while a Model X is one of the bigger and more involved, mostly because of its falcon-wing doors. After size, it is the film: standard satin, gloss and matte cost less than color-shift or color PPF. Door jambs add hours. So does trim, if you want every bright piece blacked out. Paint condition matters too, since chips are checked and dealt with before film goes over them. Send the model, year and a few photos and we reply with exact numbers.
In the bay, and after
Your Tesla is washed and decontaminated first, then the film goes on indoors, panel by panel. Where a seam is needed, knifeless tape does the cutting, so no blade goes near the paint. Edges are post-heated so they stay down in the sun. At pickup we walk around the car with you under shop lights. Give the film a few days before the first wash. After that, hand wash with a pH-neutral soap, hold pressure washer tips well back from the edges, and park in shade or a garage when you can.
Questions
How much does it cost to wrap a Tesla in Los Angeles?
It depends on the model, the film and how much is covered. A Model 3 or Model Y in a standard satin or gloss film is a smaller job than a Model S, a Model X or any color-shift film, and door jambs add time. Text us photos and the year, and we send exact options.
Can you chrome delete an older Model 3 or Model Y?
Yes. Cars built before Tesla's switch to black trim around late 2020 are the usual candidates. We wrap the window trim in gloss or satin black, and the badges too if you like. The chrome stays under the film, so you can go back to stock before you sell.
How dark can I tint my Tesla in California?
Rear side windows and the back glass can be any shade, because the car has mirrors on both sides. The front side windows must still let through 70% of light, so only clear film goes there. The windshield can have a strip along the top. We install ceramic tint to those rules, no exceptions.
Is satin black a good wrap for a Tesla?
It is one of the most popular Tesla looks, and it pairs well with the black trim on newer cars. Satin hides small waves in the bodywork better than gloss and keeps an even sheen. It does show oily fingerprints, so keep a bottle of film-safe detail spray in the car.
