Toyota Tundra chrome delete, wraps and PPF
On a Tundra, chrome delete is a natural first job, because on many trims of the current truck the grille alone is a big piece of bright trim. We also wrap Tundras in new colors, protect them with clear or matte PPF and install California-legal ceramic tint. The bright pieces differ by trim and year, so send photos of your truck and we price only what is on it.
The third-generation grille and trim
The current Tundra, the third generation, arrived for 2022 with a much larger grille than before. Its design changes from trim to trim, and so does the amount of bright finish around it and on the bumpers, mirrors and handles; the more upscale trims tend to carry more. Smooth frames and bars take film well. A grille insert with many small openings is slow to cover by hand, so we look at your photos before saying how to handle it. Trucks built through 2021 use different parts, so tell us the year. Every piece is cleaned and degreased first, because film only holds on a clean surface.
A full blackout in one visit
Plenty of owners do the whole truck at once: grille, bumpers, door handles, mirror caps, window trim, badges and tailgate lettering where it is a separate piece. Doing it together keeps every black the same sheen, gloss or satin, instead of matching parts months apart. The wheels can be powder coated in black, bronze or grey. The one thing left off any blackout is the license plate: covers and tints for it have been illegal in California since January 1, 2026, and we do not install them.
PPF on a tall, flat front
A Tundra's front end stands tall and nearly upright, so stones kicked up by traffic hit the grille, the bumper and the front edge of the hood almost straight on. Full front PPF covers the bumper, hood, fenders, headlights and mirrors. Work trucks and trail trucks need more: the rockers, lower doors and lower bed sides catch rocks from the tires, and the tailgate and bumper corners get scuffed when you load the bed. Clear gloss keeps the factory look, and matte PPF turns the paint satin. Front sensors and cameras are trimmed around, so the driver aids keep working.
Wrapping a Tundra
A CrewMax with the longer bed is a lot of truck, and film is a bigger share of the price than on a car. The doors, bed sides and hood are large, mostly flat surfaces, which makes for clean wraps but shows any ripple, so satin and matte are forgiving choices. Textured black plastic on the lower bumper, flares or cladding has a grain that film cannot follow into, so it stays black and is left out of the wrap plan. The roof sits high and takes the most sun; parking in shade makes the film on it last longer. Door jambs are optional and priced on their own.
What sets the price, and the visit
Cab and bed size, the trim's chrome count, the film and the coverage decide it. A Double Cab with only badges and a grille surround to black out is a short job; a CrewMax with a full blackout and full front PPF is a long one. Chips are checked before film goes over them. The truck is washed, decontaminated and wrapped indoors, and the edges are post-heated. At pickup we walk around it with you. After that, hand wash with a pH-neutral soap, avoid brush washes and give film edges room when you use a pressure washer.
Questions
How much is a Tundra chrome delete?
It depends on the trim and on how far you go. Badges and mirror caps alone are quick; the grille, both bumpers, handles and window trim together make a bigger job. Photograph the nose, each side and the rear, and we price it part by part.
Can you chrome delete a Tundra grille without removing it?
Usually the frame and bars are covered in place. Some inserts and badges come off for cleaner edges and go back on afterward. When we quote, we tell you which parts come off and which stay on the truck.
Is PPF worth it on a new Tundra?
If it tows, works or goes off pavement, yes. The upright nose takes chips on every freeway, and the lower doors and bed sides take rocks on dirt. Full front PPF plus the rockers covers most of it, and it comes off cleanly at trade-in time.
What tint is legal on a Tundra in California?
Rear side glass and the back window can be any shade, since the truck has outside mirrors on both sides. Front door windows have to let through 70% of light, so only clear film is allowed on them. The windshield can have a band across the top. Our ceramic tint is installed to those limits.
